Art has always been a significant part of my life. From the early days of sketching and painting, I found joy and solace in the creative process. However, as life progressed and the responsibilities of adulthood took center stage, my artistic pursuits took a backseat. Despite this, I continually sought ways to infuse creativity into my professional endeavors, ensuring that art remained a part of my life, even if in a different form.
Last year, I faced a challenge that temporarily halted my ability to create art: carpal tunnel syndrome. Undergoing surgery was necessary, but it meant stepping away from working with my hands for a while. I had to pause my writing during this time, so I picked up a variety of novels. The recovery period was a time of reflection and anticipation, as I longed to return to the artistic practices I cherished.
Once my healing was sufficient, I started getting back into typing for my day job and eased into writing sprints for my series. Recently, I decided it was time to revisit my passion for drawing and explore new tools that could enhance my creative expression and were able to adapt to my needs. This decision led me to Procreate, a digital art app that has opened up an exciting new world of possibilities.
Diving into Procreate has been an exhilarating experience. The app's versatility and wide range of tools have allowed me to experiment and rediscover the joy of art. It's been a journey of learning and growth as I adapt to this digital medium.
Although hiring a professional artist for my cover art and character designs would be easier and much faster, I am not in a financial position to take that route. Similar to my writing, I find small pockets of time throughout the day to work on my art gradually. Balancing my artistic pursuits with the demands of daily life can be challenging, but it is a challenge I willingly embrace. Art is not just a hobby for me; it is a vital part of who I am. As I continue to explore digital art, I am excited to see how this journey unfolds and what creations will emerge from my renewed commitment.
