Kenzo and the Dittos

Writer: Erica AdamsErica Adams

The Dittos are six distinct, manifested duplicates of Kenzo. Each Ditto possesses its own unique fighting style and personal flair. Kenzo has the ability to transition between these Dittos, allowing him to tap into their specialized skills. However, he must ensure the safety of his primary body while doing so.

The Dittos make numerous appearances throughout the Four Kings trilogy, consistently embodying Kenzo's intense rage. They are not only his reliable backup but also serve as tireless sparring partners from whom Kenzo learns and grows.

The Initial Sighting

Kenzo’s blood was boiling. He wished he had some backup but was willing to take them on by himself. As they continue to provoke him, Kenzo readies himself for self-defense. Suddenly, Kenzo duplicated his form six times in the parking lot behind them. As the clones came closer, Reece spotted them. “Frost! We need to go. Now!” The boys turned to see what the issue was, dropped the clothes, and ran off.

Wow! I can clone myself. Wait until Kai sees this. Now how do I get them to go away? Mom is going to freak out.

He tittered while he picked up his bags. When he looked up, he was all alone again.

The Discovery

The van pulled out of the store parking lot, and Kenzo could feel the paralytic drugs wearing off. He thought back to two weeks ago when he summoned his duplicates. While training the past couple of weeks, he could duplicate and jump into the other bodies. It would not hurt to try. He just had to protect his primary body. He had to wait for the optimal opportunity to bring out what he called the “dittos.”

He had trained with the dittos during the past two weeks and had discovered some interesting things about them, but he still had a lot to learn. The dittos were alternate versions of Kenzo. They all looked like him but had distinctive characteristics and fighting styles.

Kenzo named them according to their style: K.O., the boxer; Sensei, the karate master; TapOut, the MMA fighter; Suplex, the wrestler; Ninja, the ninjutsu master; and Roundhouse, the kickboxer. He had not had time to explore them all yet. His mother believed Kenzo summoned them from alternate dimensions, and they did not speak. He was far from proficient at this new ability, but maybe he would be able to use some skills he had learned from developing his other gifts.

The Response

One of the men reached across Kenzo and put the car in drive, then signaled to the other driver with a wave of his hand before wedging a stick in place to engage the gas pedal and pressing it down to the floor. A moment later, the man stood and disengaged the parking brake. The driver’s door slammed closed and Kenzo was speeding away. The other car raced up beside him. Kenzo could see a retaining wall in the distance, and he was heading straight for it.

He called on the dittos. They appeared, and he took over Sensei as they started fighting Kenzo’s abductors. He could not let them get away, but his primary body needed to awaken quickly.

The wall was less than a quarter mile away now, and he was racing toward it at top speed. The other car abruptly turned. Whoever was doing this wanted it to look like a horrible racing accident. Kenzo closed his eyes to focus, then, suddenly, the rest of his body awakened. Right before the car smashed into the wall, Kenzo teleported to join the dittos. As soon as he looked up, he saw the car burst into a ball of fire.

For a moment, he was just glad he made it, but he quickly turned his attention to the dittos who were still fighting. He joined in, jumping from ditto to ditto, fighting the hitmen.
