When I sat down and started typing, I thought I knew what my story would be. After a while, the story grew and the message became clearer. I let the characters take me where they wanted to go.
When it came to settling on a title for my debut novel, I had lots of ideas. In a few words, there are many ways to convey what the reader would find within the pages. I settled on Four Kings: An Act of Opposition.
There are four main characters that drive the story. The proficiency that impacts their lives has been coined as the "Proficiency of the Four Kings," so it only makes sense to make that the title. Right? I felt that it needed a little more. People needed to see this book and know that it's not just the tale of four kids but a story of perseverance.
The Cambridge English Dictionary defines rising as "an act of opposition, sometimes using violence, by many people in one area of a country against those who are in power."
Simply existing is a battle for these brothers, but they refuse to lie down. They learn, grow, and refuse to be easy targets. They rise by waking up everyday, looking out for each other, and developing themselves to be better than the day before.
